WHY CURATE AFRICA

We observed a significant divide for creative people in Africa, who often face a constant struggle for survival. Our mission is to empower artists to continue their creative journeys without having to abandon their passion to make ends meet or being forced into crime. We aim to create more opportunities and reduce division.
Together, we strive to bring hope, joy, love, and community to the world through the work of our artists.

Our Mission

At Curate Afrika, our mission is to create opportunities for African artists who may not have had access to a global audience of art lovers. Art as a career has not been given the recognition it deserves in many parts of Africa. Despite the continent’s rich artistic heritage, the focus has traditionally been on “white-collar” jobs. We aim to change this narrative by encouraging African society to see the beauty in their own craftsmanship and by empowering talented creators to rediscover their passion and creativity.
We believe in the transformative power of art to inspire, connect, and build bridges between cultures.

Our Products

We understand that everyone has unique tastes and preferences, which is why our collection features a diverse array of art. From abstract and modern to traditional pieces, our broad selection has something for everyone.
Please check the description for the medium used, as not all artworks are created on canvas. We encourage our artists to maintain their vibrancy and choose the mediums they enjoy working with, making our collection exciting and varied.
We aim for these pieces to retain their visual appeal for years to come.

Our Story

Two years ago, when Jess and Joseph(aka Joestain) envisioned Curate Afrika, our dream was both simple and profound: to bridge the gap between Africa and the rest of the world by creating a platform where African creatives could thrive and trade fairly in global markets. We envisioned a journey that would elevate African artists from mere survival to true flourishing.

My personal story is central to our mission. Growing up, the passion i had for the arts was often overshadowed by practical concerns; his family insisted I study law, believing that a creative career wasn’t viable given to the limited opportunities available . After four challenging years, I chose to follow my calling in music and art. This journey of overcoming adversity deeply fuels our vision for Curate Afrika.

When Jess and I connected online in June 2020, we quickly bonded over our shared desire to help African artists earn a living from their work and transform cultural perceptions from scepticism to community and support. Our passionate discussions and unwavering commitment paved way to the Curation of Curate Afrika.

Before meeting Joestain, I wasn’t fully aware of the challenges African artists faced in expanding beyond their continent due to global reputational and political barriers. This realisation inspired me to work alongside Joe to create a meaningful solution that could truly make a difference.

At Curate Afrika, we are grounded in the values of honesty, loyalty, and equal opportunity. These principles guide every decision we make. Our mission is to showcase remarkable African art to the world, empowering a million artists to embrace their identity and talents. We strive to provide young creatives with hope for building sustainable careers from their art. Our commitment extends beyond just selling art; we manage all aspects of sales and shipping, fostering trust and connection across continents.

Every product we create, every service we offer, and every choice we make is driven by our commitment to nurturing emerging artists and spreading joy through art. We are more than just a company; we are building a community of like-minded individuals who share our vision for a brighter, more inclusive African future. This is also how Daniel came on board and became a vital part of our team!Thank you for joining us on this journey. Together, we are building a brighter future, one artwork at a time.
